About Erin Moreland
My introduction to the philosophy behind Oriental medicine began nearly twenty years ago with the study of taiji. An appreciation for these principles that integrate the outer world with inner health eventually led to my interest in Shiatsu bodywork, and I became licensed to practice massage in 1999, later focussing on Shiatsu at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy.
My interest in deepening my understanding of Oriental medicine later led me to the National College of Natural Medicine, where I received my Master’s degree in 2008. This involved training in Chinese herbs, acupuncture, qigong and taiji exercise, and allowed me to further my Shiatsu training, which I continue to consider a strong foundation for my work. During my time at NCNM I was also introduced to Reiki, and eventually pursued training with Jessica Schaefer and Ryan Powell. I find it a simple yet meditative addition, capable of enhancing most treatments, as well as a centering and rebalancing treatment on its own.
In my practice, I place an emphasis on mental-emotional health, relief from pain and stress, and the influence of environment on one’s health.
Research during my final year at NCNM helped me to develop a strong belief in the importance of surrounding space and environment in one’s health. I continue to study fengshui and other forms of environmental assessment and adjustment, and aim to help others address this aspect of their health in the home and workplace.
My other loves include Chinese calligraphy, African drumming, walking, biking, and volunteering for Resolutions Northwest, a community mediation service.
